About the Microlab
I’m Geoff MacDonald, co-author of the EPE Teach-In ’93 series and author of the Microlab firmware. After the Teach-In articles ended, I continued developing the Microlab firmware with the intention of making it available to EPE readers. For reasons beyond anyone’s control, that did not happen at the time—so here it is, better late than never.
The project
The original site made updated monitor firmware, example programs and hardware notes available to Microlab owners. It also discussed possible future work, including using the serial port to develop software on a PC and download it to the Microlab, saving and loading programs from disk, and perhaps creating a simple compiler.
Those plans are now part of the project’s history, but the surviving firmware, source code and practical modification notes remain available in this archive.
